If you haven’t, the government is trying to track you down. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is looking for taxpayers who did not get their tax refund or economic stimulus payment that the US Congress approved earlier this year.
It turns out the U.S. Postal Service returned $266 million in checks to the IRS because of address problems, according to the IRS. For the average Joe-The-Taxpayer, this means a tax refund of $988 and an economic stimulus payment of $583 may be waiting for you.
Usually tax refunds do not expire, but economic stimulus payment do. So if you don’t get your economic stimulus payment by the end of the year, you won’t ever get it. The IRS has an economic stimulus payment calculator that you can use to find “Where's My Stimulus Payment”.
Below is the IRS mailing schedule for the economic stimulus payment.
